Our Story as Digital Forensics Experts
Squirrel Forensics was founded by two friends and digital forensics professionals with a shared mission: to make powerful forensic tools accessible to everyone. With 30+ years of experience supporting law enforcement, corporations, and government teams, we saw a growing need for affordable, portable, and reliable digital forensics incident response technology.
During the COVID-19 lockdown, that idea became a reality with the design and development of The Acorn in the UK.
We also recognised a growing need among startups and small businesses, those without dedicated cybersecurity teams, who are now frequent targets of ransomware, phishing, and insider threats. These organisations often lack the resources for traditional digital forensic tools or services. The Acorn was designed to close that gap offering an affordable, field-ready solution that empowers small teams to respond effectively.
